55 listed buildings

Little Germany is Bradford's historic mercantile quarter, located just off the city centre's main shopping streets. The area is home to 55 listed buildings packed into a small corner of Central Bradford—making it one of the most remarkable heritage destinations in the UK.

MIGRATION & MERCHANTS

Beyond the breathtaking built environment, Little Germany has a fascinating social history. As the name suggests, its development is intrinsically linked to the migration of Jewish-German merchants to the city, many of whom would go on to do great things for the people and places of Bradford.

THRIVE IN LITTLE GERMANY

With so much character in every building, Little Germany is the perfect location for an office, studio, or workshop. Many buildings have been retrofitted internally to provide modern commercial facilities, while retaining their historic fabric. The area is also home to Bradford Chamber of Commerce and Impact Hub co-working space. With Broadway Shopping Centre and Bradford’s cultural attractions just a short walk away, Little Germany would be the ideal location to open a new cafe, bar, or restaurant.

UK’S BEST VALUE COMMERCIAL QUARTER

Located on the corner of Chapel Street and Peckover Street, Grandad's Clock and Chair has been installed in 1992 in Bradford, England. The hyperrealistic stone sculpture is by Timothy Shutter. The piece is an interpretation of a mill owner's office with a comfortable chair, mirror and grandfather clock. Commissioned by the Bradford Council and Little Germany Action Group, the sculptures have been carved from sandstone.
